Butterfly Valve Actuator

Electric actuators – multi-turn – These types of valves are among the most common and the most dependable. They’re capable of quickly operating some of the largest valves, and they’re powered by a single or three-phased electric motor that drives a combination of level gears and spurs. Subsequently, these gears and spurs drive a stem nut, which engages the stem of the valve to open or close it. They often include a declutching mechanism and a hand wheel that allows for manual operation in the event of a power failure. As environmental regulations tighten, electric actuators are becoming more popular because they do not require the use of supply gas and therefore do not release emissions.
The motor of the electric actuator operates through rotor and stator assemblies. The voltage is applied to the stator assembly that induces the flow of current to the rotor assembly. The interaction between these two assemblies creates a magnetic field that causes motion of the valve. Electric actuated butterfly valves work quickly and have a positive shut-off feature, making them useful for water applications. Electric actuator butterfly valve is mostly used for throttling services. Linear electrical valve actuators provide linear motion via motor-driven ball screws or ACME screws.
They can be used to almost instantaneously open or close a channel directing the flow of media in the system. ProMation Engineering has an Explosion Proof/Ignition Proof actuator line for the ,250 in lbs (90-1,500Nm) torque range. Certification data and more information are in the Hazardous Location Actuators (P2~8) section. We offer custom solutions to cater to any specifications you may have from the shape to the materials used. There are different options for you to choose from to ensure that you get valves that meet your needs.
The type of fail-safe mode depends on the application for which the control valve is used. The control valve receives a signal from a controller such as a PLC or a DCS in order to operate. The controller compares the actual flow rate to the desired flow value called the setpoint. The controller will produce an output to move the valve to bring the flow rate to the setpoint value.
“One of the things you can do with this valve train is to do all sorts of relatively off-the-beaten-path combustion approaches,” says Gostick. “So people are talking about deep Miller cycle and Lambda 2 and HCCI and this kind of stuff, things where you need very precise control over the combustion conditions to do them. We regard ourselves as an enabler. Camcon believes the benefits of this IVA system will really begin to add up once it’s more tightly integrated into the car, particularly in the hybrid space. And Gostick certainly doesn’t think the gasoline engine is anywhere near the end of its rope.
The sluice gate valves are real end-of-line valves designed to hold back water with minimal leakage in applications such as drains, sump tanks, and distribution boxes. The most important parameter of electric actuators is the output force. In the oil and gas industry, the flow of liquids and gases must be measured during every phase of exploration, production and transportation. These applications demand the highest oil and gas meter accuracy and reliability, as well as long-term stability and a low cost-of-ownership. Electric actuators can perform the exact same function using a positioning circuit board inside of the actuator. The actuator converts the control signal into the proportional degree of rotation and moves the actuator to that position.
Our control valve has an integrated structure with built-in electronic controller modules, stable operation and allows large pressure difference. The analog control signal can also be referred to as a positioning signal or set point. Most analog controls utilize a 4-20mA signal, with 4mA being fully closed and 20mA being fully open. A 0-20mA is typically not used because 0mA could be misinterpreted as a loss of signal. The valve’s position in between close and open can be reached by setting the mA control signal to a signal position in between 4mA and 20mA, respectively. This signal could be sent from the control room, or in some cases, it could be the output of a flowmeter upstream of the valve used to regulate flow.
